Fr. Timothy Tomson

Fr. Tim is a dynamic and loving pastor. He brings with him a real zeal for Christ and a deep love for his congregation. Ordained on February 23, 1992 as a Deacon by Patriarch Mystyslav, and a Priest on May 3, 1992 by Metropolitan Constantine, Fr. Tim is an experienced and influential leader within the parish.

Fr. Tim has dedicated many years of service to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of the USA. In the past, he served as an Auditor of the UOC, was a member of the Metropolitan Council, and participated in the work of the Consistory. He was also deeply involved in youth ministry, having served as the camp manager at All Saints Camp in Emlenton, PA, as well as Director of Church Camp, Chaplain, and organizer of the National Altar Servers Retreat in Lakeland, Florida.

For his tireless efforts and dedication to the Church, he was elevated to Archpriest and awarded both the Gold Cross and later the Jeweled Cross as well as a miter. After many years of service in national roles, Fr. Tim chose to step away to focus more fully on his parish and the people he serves. His heart remains devoted to preserving the sacred traditions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, fostering faith, and strengthening the local community.

He is most notably known for his role in leading Pittsburgh's Largest Ukrainian Festival each summer. Fr. Tomson enjoys traveling and meeting new people. He and his wife, Svitlana—a classically trained pianist and native of Ukraine—lead the parish in both worship and song, with Svitlana directing the beautiful choir each Sunday. Fr. Tomson and Svitlana are proud parents of two daughters, who carry on their family’s deep-rooted faith and heritage. After their daughters graduated high school, Fr. Tomson and Svitlana moved to a farm outside of Pittsburgh. There, they enjoy tending to their animals and embracing the beauty of God’s creation while continuing to serve the faithful at St. Mary’s.
